Gérard à Moïse and Jaylon (à Dwayne & Kim) Aucoin
Thank you Gérard

Gérard (à Moïse) Romard left us for a better place on August 31 at the age of 61. Throughout his life, Gérard always had a taste for song, music and good times. He had his own ideas, opinions, tastes and talents, and it was through music that he chose to share them with us.

Always ready to entertain, Gérard was able to capture and maintain our sincere admiration. His song-book was a legacy kept alive by the Doryman’s weekly Talent Night. He learned the old French songs at his mother’s knee and remembered hundreds of them by heart and was always ready to add more to his collection, a true treasure of Acadian folklore. The singing troubadour really knew how to appreciate the value of that legacy.

As much comedian as singer, he could always add laughs to his shows with his jokes and his stories. In his own special way, he contributed greatly to the preservation of those beautiful old French songs. Performed in his way, with a little added comic relief, they have become little gems of the genre.

With a generous and sweet nature, Gérard loved to share his joy with others. He was generous to a fault and managed to infuse his music with his heart and to place others’ needs ahead of his own. Anytime, anywhere, groups and associations knew they could count on Gérard. Each year, numerous organizations were gifted with his talent, his old songs and his kind heart.

Gérard never said no to requests to appear at parties for seniors at the Foyer Père Fiset, occasions like Mi-Carême parties, Festivals, Tim Horton’s Camp Day, the party at Raymond’s cabin, benefit dances, radiothons, telethons and of course, The Doryman’s weekly Talent Night. If there was music, Gérard was likely to make an appearance. Countless times, Gérard brought light to people’s lives with his music and his songs.

His album called «Le Moineau» was recorded in «Studio Marcel Doucet» in Chéticamp in 2002. His songs are a regular part of CKJM’s programming .

There is no doubt that all Acadians can be proud to call Gérard à Moïse one of their own.
